Turn Off the Noise

You may have seen my FB video last week about turning off the noise. That’s the way I ended September and it’s how I’m starting off October.  Now more than ever with technology what it is, there is absolutely no downtime.  Weekend to yourself?  Not a chance if you have a smartphone.  Your social media, be it FB, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, PLUS private messaging, texting and email…is available 24/7.  There’s just no way to be unreachable unless it’s turned OFF.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for technology.  It’s helped me build my business and serves as a great tool to connect with my tribe. But I found that harnessing it with boundaries helped me gain much needed breathing space and my sanity back. I had the opportunity to really be in the moment, not in the moment but thinking about something I forgot to do earlier. I was able to really listen when my sons where talking, not listen with one ear but checking my texts at the same time. I had a lot more patience when things didn’t go as planned and most importantly I was a participant in my life…not a bystander watching everyone else play and have fun.
This month I’ll be sharing all the ways for you to re-connect with yourself before heading into the holiday season…did I just say holiday?  YES!  Creating time and setting specific boundaries can be a great way to head into the busiest time of year in the most calm and peaceful way, so you can show up and enjoy them – 100%.
Start today by setting up specific times to check into social media instead of opening it everytime you get a notification.  Maybe you turn notifications off for starters, then opt out of groups that your not inspired to be in and unsubscribe to emails you have no interest in.
