The last couple of years, I’ve hired coaches to mentor and grow me to become the best coach and human I can possibly be. I noticed they all have one thing in common.
They continuously challenge and remind me to make decisions from the perspective of my future self.
They challenge me on where I am in the present moment and where I want to be the following year and beyond.
I call this a challenge because my brain had never thought about operating from a future me. My brain wanted to continue the cycle of making decisions from my past. And if something looked like a stretch, like super uncomfortable - my scaredy cat mind would take over...and talk me out of what I truly want.
Here's the AHA LIGHTBULB MOMENT:
If you're trying to do something that you've never done before - where are you going to find positive encouraging evidence in your past?
You're not!
The only thing you'll find is a mis-managed mind...and you know what that's like...it's like giving a butcher knife to a 2 year old - YIKES!
So today when I plant a vision for where I want to be next year or in 5 years and scaredy cat 🙀 wants to take over - I have someone reminding me of my vision EVEN WHEN I CAN’T SEE IT. I don't spend a lot of time in fear zone and doubt land.
Let me ask you honestly:
How much time to you devote to just thinking (not doing) about where you want to be a year from now?
Do you have a clear vision of what you'd like your life to look like in 2023?
Just remember the one thing that cannot be stopped is time.
Start getting intentional with your one precious life. If you keep trying to do, do, do - maybe its time to stop, reflect on where you'd like to be, then make the investment to hire someone to help you get there.
I believe from my own experience it's one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
